父亲抬起头，看着少年：“输了就输了吧。陪我下盘棋吧。”说着就从抽屉里摸出一副围棋。少年坐在父亲对面，选择了黑棋，和父亲下了起来。
“父亲，该你了。”少年看着父亲，父亲思索了一会才将棋落下，父亲的棋刚落下，少年的棋就跟着父亲的棋落在了棋盘上。父亲看了一眼少年，仍是思索了一会才开始下，少年也是一如既往。不一会后，少年的速度慢了下来，又过了一会，少年却是再也下不下去了。少年惭愧的看着父亲，：“父亲，我输了。”“你知道你是怎么输的吗。”父亲看着少年。“我实力不如你，当然会输了。”少年回答。
“没错，孩子，实力确实是你输我的原因，可是仅仅如此吗？你只看到你输我的结果，可是你却没看到你为何而输。我看到你下棋的时候速度很快，我从中看到了你的急躁，不冷静，遇事不加思考。在你被我逼入绝境是便认输，我看到了你对困难的畏惧。你看，若是刚才你下这里，不是还有可以反败为胜的机会吗，你没有一颗求胜的心，畏惧困难。在你输了后我问你为何而输，你只认为我实力比你强，输我理所当然，没有反思输掉的原因，没有想过加以改正。你认为你会有赢过我的机会吗。孩子，不要小看这些细节啊。”父亲看着少年。
